The Patcham elms have been replanted. The mature elms made an enormous impact on the village scape at the bottom of Ladies Mile Road. They made a dramatic contribution to views from the north and the south along Old London Road, and from the east down Ladies Mile Road. In the summer it was a delight to sit on the benches in their shade. Sadly it will be many decades before the new elms provide this kind of benefit.
